Dr. Arnold M. Washton- Addiction Psychologist & Alcohol Abuse Expert

Arnold M. Washton, Ph.D., has specialized in treating alcohol and drug abuse since 1975. A widely recognized addiction psychologist and published book author, Dr. Arnold Washton is well known  for  developing individualized psychotherapeutic approaches to treating alcohol and substance abuse. As described in his most recent book “Treating Alcohol and Drug Problems in Psychotherapy Practice: Doing What Works”, Dr. Washton’s approach combines many of the best clinical practices and research-supported treatment approaches in the substance abuse treatment field today. Over the course of his extensive career, Dr. Washton has served as substance abuse consultant to professional sports teams, foreign governments, media organizations, multinational corporations, the U.S Food and Drug Administration, the U.S. State Department, and subcommittees of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. He also served as a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at New York University School of Medicine in the Division of Alcohol and Drug Abuse, and as principal investigator of research grants from the National Institute on Drug Abuse and major pharmaceutical companies. Dr. Washton is licensed to practice psychology in New York (No. 006178), New Jersey (No. 35S100357400), and Florida (PY-0005912), and holds national Proficiency Certification in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Alcohol and Drug Abuse from the American Psychological Association, College of Professional Psychology.


 

Loraine J. Washton, Ph.D., a clinical psychologist and moderation therapist who specializes in moderation therapy and the treatment of other mental health problems including anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, personality disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorders. Dr. Washton’s areas of professional interest include moderate drinking strategies, the psychology of addictive disorders, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and solution-focused psychodynamic therapy.


Ruby Malik, Ph.D., an addiction psychologist, has has specialized in treating substance abuse and related mental health problems for over 18 years in outpatient treatment programs and office-based psychotherapy practice. Dr. Malik is a moderation therapist whose areas of clinical interest include motivation-enhancement strategies, relapse prevention, and recovery-focused psychotherapy.


 


Andrea J. Rossi, LCSW, a licensed clinical social worker and psychotherapist who works as a moderation therapist in our Princeton NJ office, has over three decades of professional experience in treating substance abuse and co-occurring psychiatric disorders. She specializes in recovery-focused individua, group, and couples therapy blending cognitive-behavioral, emotion-focused, and psychodynamic techniques.
